Hong Kong education by definition.

Understanding what knowledge is by defination, is very important. Hong Kong Education does not have a clue of how to define education and that is why many educators and those they educate say that they hate education in Hong Kong.  The response from them is often “This is Hong Kong.” but cannot or will not offer any solutions.  What is a definition and mission statement of education in Hong Kong?  Wang Dan, highly educated in both Chinese and US schools offers a few relevant points.
From Wang Dan:

What is affected by “well-educated people,” such a person what is the standard? When I entered Harvard University when the Harvard-educated this standard is very clear, that is:

1 can clearly and effectively thinking and writing;
2 In some areas of knowledge have high achievement;
3 of the universe, social and human beings have a deep understanding;
4 hard thinking ethical issues, with a wise judgment and choice force;
5 has a wealth of life experience, and age of the cultures of the world have a deep understanding.

Contrast this standard, you are a “well-educated people” do?

什麼是受“過良好教育的人”,這樣的人的標準是什麼?當我進入哈佛大學的時候,哈佛教育的這個標準很清楚,那就是:1.能清晰而有效地思考和寫作;
2.在某些知識領域具有較高的成就;
3.對宇宙,社會及人類自身有深邃的理解;
4.勤於思考倫理道德問題,具有明智的判斷力和抉擇力;
5.具有豐富的生活經驗,對於世界各種文化及時代有深刻的認識。對比這樣的標準,你,是一個“受過良好教育的人”嗎?
