In Hong Kong children are not taught basic human rights.

I have time to think through things during my 100 hour fast.

I come from a nation (USA) where in my generation (1960’s) basic human rights was taught to us in our school at the earliest of ages and everyone including our parents knew about them as they had also been taught from one generation to the next.  This dated back to 1776 when the nation was a colony of England and our basic human rights (speech, thought and press) were violated and the people rose up to defend themselves and defeated those who violated the precepts.

I was simply taught, myself and my children are to have free speech, free thought and freedom to put your thoughts in words (free press).  Freedom to possess guns was also granted to protect these rights from abuse and tyrants.  Of course people have greatly abused the right to bear arms but opposite of this is that your other basic rights can easily be manipulated by tyrants.

In Hong Kong children are not taught basic rights.  Parents do not know them so that they do not even know how to stand up for their own children.  In the past 5 years the communist government of China has introduced new basic human rights to Hong Kong and attempt to introduce them into schools and over info commercials on the television. The problem is the rights they offer are at odds with the basic right of free speech, free thought and free to write your thoughts.  So that is why the democracy movement is taking place in Hong Kong today.

  1. I appreciate your perspective, Bob. And of course, in a Communist country, the destruction of religion leaves a deep scar in a society. I wish you would write more on this topic.
